Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American anchor for a television newscast and a anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. Following a childhood within New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. 1976 Mitchell became a reporter for WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). Two years later she became a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. She was made the chief White House correspondent in 1992. And Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was a panelist at the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was on an advisory panel during the 1988 presidential debates featuring George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times in journalism, among them her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell was the first journalist to report on White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan as president between 1981 and 1988. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of important stories including the Iran-Contra scandal as well as budget tax reforms and arms control. She traveled together with Ronald Reagan many times for summits, and to discuss topics such as the Iran Contra controversy.
